A social story to prepare children to return to school after lockdown
A social story is a learning tool to teach children how to navigate a new situation, such as starting school or how to deal with certain situations or problems, such as asking for help or waiting for a turn. It is a narrative that often includes images, either real-life photo examples or generic images.
Reframing Disability has prepared a social story for families to prepare their child for a return to the classroom.
There is a social story for students in Kindergarten to Year 2 and for students in Year 3 – 6. These year levels are a guide. We encourage you to look at both and decide on which story would best suit your child.
