Reframing Disability’s founding CEO Stacey Touma is passionate about creating innovative, contemporary, evidence-based approaches to supporting children with disability and their families.
She brings to the organisation extensive Project and Events Manager experience across the corporate, not-for-profit, and professional sporting sectors, and draws from her lived experiences raising a son with disability.
Stacey takes a strengths-based approach to her role and life, shifting the focus away from deficits to a place where people are seen for what they can do. She is a firm believer in the social model of disability – which frames disability as the result of environmental, attitudinal, and social barriers, rather than an individual failure.
Before her own parenting journey, Stacey worked in Events Management and travelled Australia working for a V8 Supercar team. She’s held roles as Project Manager and Team Leader at early childhood intervention organisation Plumtree, where she was involved in co-designing and facilitating a highly successful, evidence-based parenting program.
Stacey and her husband Mark are parents to three children. They love to spend their weekends exploring their neighbourhood and finding new playgrounds, cafes, and markets to visit. Ultimately, Stacey is working to break down barriers and change the disability narrative, such that all families feel empowered to choose the life they want to live.
